⚠ This venue has closed. Shanghai Science & Technology Museum IMAX dome - confirmed closed. Museum shut 31 Mar 2023 for its largest-ever overhaul; dome/giant-screen theatres rebuilt with new systems and reopened 2026, the 15/70 film IMAX dome retired

This is a dome. The area above is the projected surface, worked out from the diameter by convention rather than measured — and it wraps above and behind you, so it isn't the same thing as the frontal area of a flat screen. Treat the score as a rough peer of the flat screens around it, not a like-for-like comparison.

⚠ A 2021 industry listing recorded a 15/70mm film projector here, and we could find nothing to confirm or refute it. Most multiplex film systems were removed years ago; many museum ones still run. Rather than guess either way, this venue is scored as if the projector were unknown — so if it does still run film, the score below understates it substantially.
